Cambridge’s Luke Chadwick is relishing the opportunity to play against his former side Manchester United.

The 34-year-old spent seven years on the books at Old Trafford, progressing through the youth ranks to make his debut in the 1999/2000 season and going on to make a further 37 appearances for the club, scoring twice.
And as his current side prepare to take on the Premier League giants in Friday’s FA Cup fourth round clash, Chadwick says he is excited by the prospect of the reunion.
“It’s the first time I’ve been involved in a game against them, really looking forward to it,” Chadwick told Press Association Sport.
Chadwick spent time on loan at Royal Antwerp, Reading and Burnley during his time as a United player before eventually leaving for West Ham on a permanent deal in 2004 after failing to nail down a place in the starting eleven. He went on to play for Stoke, Norwich and MK Dons before moving to Cambridge on loan in March last season.
The midfielder made his switch permanent in the summer and has scored once in eight games since.
Despite never becoming a regular at Old Trafford, Chadwick has fond memories of his time in Manchester where he won a Premier League winners medal in 2001.
“It was a great time,” Chadwick added.
“I went there when I was about 15, stayed there for a good six, seven years and really, really enjoyed it.
“(Ferguson) was an incredible manager, an incredible man. It’s great that I can say I played under probably the best manager in the history of football.”
Cambridge earned the chance to play Louis van Gaal’s United side with a 2-1 win against Luton Town earlier in the month and will be looking to spring a surprise on the Premier League’s fourth placed side.
